Carmina Feri Babao, MDKnown as Mina by family but as Dr. B by the staff and her long-term
patients, she was the original member of the practice before it even
became Dawson Pediatrics. She graduated Cum Laude with a degree in BS
Biology at the University of the Philippines then received her medical
degree at the University of the East. She did her pediatric residency
training at Winthrop University Hospital in Long Island, New York. In
1999, Dr. B was hired by Chestatee Regional Hospital to establish a
pediatric office in Dawsonville. When her employment ended in 2004,
she was offered positions in other places but she decided to stay in
the community where she got married, raised her kids and made lasting
friendships with many of her patients.
Honorio Rowell Bulos, MDRowell or Dr. Bu as he is called to differentiate him from his wife,
the original Dr. B, joined his wife in 2004 to establish the practice
now known as Dawson Pediatrics. He practiced for 3 ½ years as a solo
pediatrician in Ellijay. While helping to grow the practice, he worked
part time in several offices in Chamblee, Jonesboro, Gainesville, and
Norcross, an experience that helped him see what makes a practice become
successful. Dr. Bu also went to the University of the Philippines and
the University of the East, then went to the Mercer University School
of Medicine Pediatrics program at the Medical Center of Central Georgia
for his residency training.
Joanna Brittney Morris, MDStarted to be called Dr. M to continue the tradition, she joined Dawson
Pediatrics in October 2007 after working for a year in another practice
in Cumming, where she gained a loyal following. Dr. M graduated from
Texas A & M University with a degree in Biomedical Sciences. She
received her medical degree at the University of Texas in Houston. She
completed her pediatric residency at the Medical University of South
Carolina in Columbia.
Debra S. Flax, BSN, MS, CPNPOur newest provider, Debbie, was born in New Jersey, and attained her nursing degree from Russell Sage College in 1975. Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner she worked as a Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse for 20 years. Subsequently, Debbie attended Georgia State University and received her Masters in Nursing and became a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in 1995. Since then she has worked as a primary care provider. Prior to coming to Dawson Pediatrics, she worked at Scottish Rite Medical Center, as well as at private practices in Alpharetta and Cumming. Debbie is married to Rob, a medical researcher and they have two children; Emily, a UGA senior, and Simon, a graduate student at Georgia Tech.
